Hi I'm Emily - when I found out was pregnant with our first child, I decided one big life change wasn't enough...so after 10 years of working for other people in tech, I thought it was time to pursue my own business. But out from behind a desk this time!

​Inspired by Vietnamese coconut coffee and Italian affogato (ice cream 'drowned' in espresso), affo is our unique creation of a dessert combined with a hot shot of liquid that slowly melts down into a refreshing iced drink.

After tasting an iced coconut coffee on a cold rainy beach in Vietnam, we found that the coffee immediately melted the ice and eclipsed the flavour of the coconut. Inspired but left unsatisfied, we sat there dreaming of an ice cream that was powerful enough to match the coffee but light enough to melt down into a delicious drink. Back home we set about developing our own coconut soft-serve ice cream from scratch and a few weeks later, affo was finally born.
Not satisfied with just coffee, we wondered what else we could combine with our coconut ice cream and developed our menu to include organic matcha green tea and Italian sea salt hot chocolate.

By creating our own homemade recipe, we've been able to develop affo’s ice cream to be lower in fat, sugar and dairy content, allowing us to provide a little relief on the environment as well as the waistline!

Our ice cream boasts just 7.7% fat content and we've reduced our sugar content to <10% offering a remarkable 53% less sugar. And by using coconut, we have reduced our dairy content by an impressive 87% compared to standard ice cream.
Our sustainability message is one of positivity, it calls people in rather than calling them out and focuses on praising for small environmental contributions. affo likes to make things easier; life is tricky, busy and complicated but when you buy an affo, we make it a little more carefree with something that happens to be a little easier on the environment as well!
